First off, I’m very surprised to see some reviews gave low ratings because the sackcloth hurt too much. Mortification of the sinful flesh is indeed the purpose of a sackcloth or hairshirt, so I don’t really know what they expected lol. Anyways, as I’ve been going through the discernment process of becoming a Franciscan Sister, I felt called to wear a sackcloth or hairshirt during prayer, penance, and fasts. This sackcloth meets my religious needs, and is a good price for a niche item. My one very mild criticism I have is that while it provides sufficient discomfort for the purposes of mortifying the flesh, I would have preferred a coarser burlap weave to induce further discomfort. TLDR: this sackcloth is Franciscan nun approved!

Great service. I broke into tears when I opened it. It felt so biblical. Made me feel like I was part of the Bible in some way.
